How to Beat Brutal Legend's Stage Battles

I mentioned yesterday how much I dislike real-time strategy (RTS) games. Last night, Brutal Legend changed from action-adventure to RTS in the blink of an eye. Or, at least, that's what I thought. Despite using very little strategy, I was able to get past a couple Stage Battles. I wasn't quite sure how I'd won. Rather than spending my time surveying the field and micro-managing the units of my "army", I decided to run into the fray and kick ass instead. And you know what? It worked!

First Impressions: Brutal Legend

I was really pumped about Brutal Legend when I first heard about the game. I love Tim Schafer games and I couldn't wait to play his latest comedic adventure. But as the Rocktober release date grew closer and closer, word got out that something was amiss. Early reports claimed that Brutal Legend was really an real-time strategy (RTS) game.

My problem with this news? I hate RTS games...

I'm NOT Batman

I've already discarded any thoughts of for the full 1000 GamerPoint in Lego Batman. I failed to notice a co-op related achievement. I don't have a second controller nor do I have an Xbox Live Gold account. With a perfect gamerscore unobtainable, I've decided to prune out some of the other achievements that would have taken me a while to complete. Lego Batman is good but I'm not too keen on spending countless hours trying to raise my gamerscore by an extra couple hundred gamerpoints.

Have I ever mentioned how much I hate multiplayer achievements?

First Impressions: Lego Batman

Last year's Batman: Arkham Asylum is probably the best superhero video game ever made. I've always been a fan of most Batman games, Unreal Engine or not. I remember playing some of Batman's earlier adventures on the PS2 - Batman: Vengeance and Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu. These earlier games were both based on the cult-favourite Batman animated series and I thought they were great too! Much like last year's Arkham Asylum, Kevin Conroy played the role of Batman. And good old Mark Hamill voiced The Joker in Batman: Vengeance.

I started playing a different Batman-themed game last night. Not as gritty and dark as the last year's title. Not a throwback to an awesome animated series of the 90s. And definitely no Kevin Conroy or Mark Hamill. This time, it's all about platforming, puzzle solving, and busting my way through countless henchmen as Lego Batman!

Arriverderci Ezio: Assassin's Creed II Finished

Well, I finished Assassin's Creed II over the weekend. I wasn't planning on finishing it up so quickly but I got into the groove. I played the full game finishing Sequences 1 through 14 on a single playthrough. I would have liked to have gotten the standard 30 gamerpoints for each The Battle of Forli and The Bonfire of the Vanities but it's all good. The two DLC packs fit into the story rather seamlessly. In fact, I wouldn't have known they were not part of the original game had I not paid for the DLC separately.
